Living in Rockaway

I am thinking about getting a place in Rockaway. Just wondering what everyone thought of the area. Seems like a nice area just far from some things like the NYC and whatnot. And, a bit farther from my job. But I will have to deal.

Murphy's is a good bar, its a pretty good drive for where I am but I have been there about a handfull of times. There is the one bouncer there "Pope" or "Preist" or something like that who is a pretty chill guy.
They have some good bands there too from time to time.

I've seen a lot of weirdos hanging out in front of the Quick Chek there.
