Morristown better than Hoboken?

I think Mo-Town is better than hoboken.
Easier to get to, easier to find FREE parking, nicer people. Bars are not nearly as crowed.
The best part - the people are 10x better.
Your thoughts?

I dunno man thats a tough one. I think it comes down to what your looking for. I like to go clubbing so I would probably choose Hoboken because I like Lana Lounge way better then the Dark Horse or Jimmy's, and plus Hoboken has all kinds of places like that Jazz or Blues club whatever its called right there near the Path station. But if I just wanted a typical bar I may take Motown, especially on a week night since I live right near Morristown. But right there that makes my opinion bias, and I do agree with all the forementioned reasons why to not like Hoboken, they annoy me too lol.

well i dont know so much about Hoboken but i can tell you that Morristown is THE best place to go to for clubs/bars. Personally, I like to go to bars, especially ones with a friendly atmosphere, like Tavern on The Green. I know the owners and most of the people who go there. I used to live in town for a while so i know alot of people who stop by. It's a good place to chill with your friends, plus they have karaoke night when u can make a fool of yourself.

Definitely! Hoboken is way over rated, over priced and just a pain in the ass. Mo Town is really a nicer area.

Since I went to school in Randolph and Madison, I get tired of always running into people I never wanted to see again from high school in Morristown. And I absolutely abhor Jimmy's and the Dark Horse.
But then again, I'm a small sports bar kind of girl...I mean my favorite bars are McQs in Randolph and Ringside in Caldwell....so I don't really like Hoboken OR Morristown, but for me, Hoboken is the lesser of two evils.

It is really difficult for me to say, I am no rich man, but I did date someone from hoboken for 4 years, so it has given me a different perspective on Hoboken. Like Morristown, Hoboken has it's unique look, but it is right next to NYC, so if Hoboken doesn't suit your fancy, you can always go across the river. I have to say though all the yuppie's in Hoboken put themselves so high above everyone, it's discusting (can't spell). People are more down to earth in Motown then Hoboken, and it's becoming a growing community. I myself would place Motown a a good local hang out but if your looking for adventure with an open expediture account, then Hoboken is the place for you. God I sound like I'm making an Ad for these freakin places (Go figure -Marketing Man

So what is THE bar to go to in morristown? I've actually never drank there -- all my friends like to stay local and get trashed and walk home... I'd Like to make a trip there.

I'd say THE bar to go to in Morristown is Dark Horse... or Jimmys. I've always had a preference for DH bc its easier to get a drink (mind you I'm a girl), there's free parking right down the street and less fights. Only downside is the dress code, guys HAVE to wear collared shirts (or like polo's with collars). There's a good mix of music... but Jimmy's has all different rooms, a hip hop room, an 80's room and then the main area is all club type music. Everytime I've gone to Jimmys theres been a fight and I have low tolerance for getting my drink spilt or accidentally stepped on, etc so I don't go there too often.
I like Hoboken a lot more though, just bc of the variety of bars. You can bar hop and its so easy to take the train to it. I think you're going to find assholes no matter where you go so I don't pay too much attention to that. Its pretty much the style of the place and the music that dictates where I like to go. I mena Morristown has last call anywhere from 1:15 to 1:45 and hoboken is open til like 2:30-3. Plus if you want afterhours, the city is right there accross the river. OH and the train station for morristown is a little bit of a hike to the bars and being as I like to drink and not get arrested for attmpting to drive that's another selling point for hoboken for me

Well im not that familiar with the Motown bar scene, but i do go to Hoboken alot. And i can say one thing. BORING. All the places there are overly crowded, they charge u 2 get in to every cheesy bar, and the on top alot of the people there have attitudes. I havent been there in months and im not planning on going there for quite a while. In plain English, HOBOKEN SUCKS. I might be headed to Motown this weekend to check it out. ladies get ready cause ready or not here I cum. LoL

Eh........good one!
For clubbing Motown is no good, however if you're looking for a chill hangout spot with a variety of different places, this should be you #1 choice.
There are 8 good bars around the green alone, which is only about 5 minutes walking from the train station. Plenty of parking, some of the best food in New Jersey (if not the best). There's something for anyone literally every night of the week.
Make sure you check out the Sushi Lounge on wednesdays for $4 Martinis and Cosmos and the best Sushi in NJ but expect to wait 45-60 mins for a table (no reservations)
As usual its not all sunshine though. Latley some of the places (Dark Horse, Monkey) have gotten pretty ghetto on some nights, with fights (Not always bad hehe 8)and other bullshit quiet frequently. This could easily be solved by denying access for those types (large groups of guys in ghetto outfits), but whatever.
Just hit up Jimmy's, Tashmu or the Grasshopper (long lines) instead.
One last word: Do NOT be stupid and drive drunk, the cops here are usually really chill, but if you drive drunk you WILL get fucked! There's only few ways out off town and the Cops are well aware of that!

Thank god someone finally mentioned the Grasshopper. I'm shocked no one had until just now. Paulie is by far one of my favorite bartenders in all of NJ.
Ok, so Hoboken may have more bars in relation to people in the entire country, but as mentioned, there are downfalls. Parking is a bitch, the drinks are pretty much NYC priced, everywhere worthwhile is overcrowded, and if you're not taking your car, the last train back to most places leaves before last call. I'd suggest if you want to go out drinking there, hit up the ATM...a couple times.
I must admit that more than just being convenient to where I live, Morristown has really grown on me. The drink prices won't rape your wallet, the people are friendly, places are typically a little less crowded, AND YOU CAN FIND A FREAKING PARKING SPOT!!!!! I understand that some people don't like running into people they know from High School, and it is inevitable in Mo-town if you're from the area...but in my humble opinion, it is the lesser of two evils.
So when are we all meeting up and gettin trashed anyway?

I like Morristown for the most part, its closer to me than Hoboken, but its still a good drive. (Really now the only times I go down to Hoboken is to see my boys band play)
Grasshopper is a pretty cool place, I like going out to Jimmy's also, and have been to Darkhorse a couple times (does DarkHorse many anyone else feel like they want to go swimming. Ah, we usueally pregame in the car on the way down that explains it)
The couple times I was in Grasshopper it was pretty packed, Jimmys is always pretty steady, and the few times in Darkhorse me and my buddys were like the only one in there (Well us and a couple Wiggers from the MEAN STREETS of Bedminster, word dog G son Bro boy!)
