Harvest Moon. Micro Brew. We were there last week for the first time in a while, and left very happy. Almost all of the beer that we sampled was good. my favorite right now for the season there is their Weis. Food is actually pretty good as well.

I dont know how many times I have posted the fact that I love Brunny. Some of my friends are still in school so I get to hang out with them there.. Yes, I'm a Rutgers Groupie now that I have graduated... and I have not yet become tired of this town. My fav place to go is the Olive Branch, except on Tuesday nights, just too crowded for me. But I like the fact that there is not just one type of group who go there... Like its not a frat bar or a hip hop bar... they have a diverse crowd... PLUS ACDC on their juke box. I also like the Ale n Wich (sp??) cause it can be quiet and I enjoy darts Smiley Even tho I'm terrible at it.

Tuesday nights I like to go to Knight Club or Scarlet Pub, very young crowd. Thursday nights you have to find somewhere without a long line in the spring and summer, Olde Queens isn't that bad and their drink specials are good. Friday nights I go to Gaebel's downtown. Its an older crowd, more expensive, but its awesome there, they have a DJ on the weekends only. You can go to any bar in NB and have a good time, you just need to pick the right night for each place.

gaebels on thursday/friday's definately gets a good crowd.

maritas cantina is awesome on Wednesday nights! great dj and they have a nice little outside section ...food is pretty good too!!!

my personal favorite is clyde's...not only are their martini's awesome (and a bit pricy but worth it) but their food is amazing! good lunchtime/dinner spot for us working class stiffs!

knight club was the spot back in the day....but now that i am closer to 30 than 21...it can be a bit annoying because it can get so packed....it is definately a good place to be to watch sports on a random saturday afternoon (they have 20-something t.v.'s) and isnt flooded with 21-year-olds who just learned how to do shots!

queens can get a little over run with meatheads and slures but if thats what ur looking for it can be a good time.

If you want to just chill i recommend kelly's korner.  Its less than 2 blocks from knight club and doesnt attract too many retarts.  The bartenders are hot and the service is great!! they also have a pretty decent menu that is priced reasonably (for those poor college kids....hey we were all poor at some point going thru school!!)

Olive branch if you're in the 21 to 28 age group....

Buda Bar has some great food

Kelly's korner is a good place to chill but it's so small

Stuff yer face rocks with their beer selection and outdoor patio

I personally stay away from most bars south of rt 27 other than Tumulty's as they are all kinda ritzy, save the court tavern... but that place is so set back and hard to notice these days w/ construction...

I don't think there is anywhere in nj (besides hoboken) with as many bars and choices as new brunswick.  You have the college crowd with easton ave (knight club, old queens, scarlet pub, etc) and then you have the classier date places like Clyde's.  Old bay is a great in between for the crowd that is just removed from college.  Kelly's feels like it is outside of the college town and has a real bar feel.  You even have the more alternative spots like the court tavern.  If you like latin music you have nova terra...the list just goes on and on.

New Brunswick is just made for a great bar crawl!

take the ride a little further north on easton ave and go to Southside grille. Mixed crowd (18-85) and karaoke on friday and saturday nights. Ladies get half price drinks from 9 til 11 or something like that. Once you come back two or more times you'll get pulled into the circle and you'll have a blast.

Here's my 2 cents. I never went to rutgers, but i love to drink. I have lived in New Brunswick now for 2 years.

As for the eason ave bars and similar:

Knight Club - Plus: Dancing, long bar, alot of bar tenders, on the right night alot of people. Minus: When it's packed it's too packed. Big bottle neck by the bathrooms and no room on dance floor. Bartenders have an attitude problem.

Kellys Corner( of easton) : Plus: Nice little place, good guiness. Less kids. Minus: Small.

Olive Branch ( formerly patti's pizza if you go back that far ) Plus: Good seating room, decent tunage. Minus: Serious bottle neck by the bar. Limited room around the bar to walk. Can get super packed on some nights.

Olde Queens: Plus: Been there for ages. Old school RU bar. Decent specials. Some dancing. Minus: Huge guido/meathead factor. Not sure how that happened. Hard to get drinks when packed.

Scarlett Pub: Never seen a line. Kind of out of fasion bar. But hey they sell booze. Always a quick stopping point for bar crawls.

Golden Rail: Plus: Decent selection. Good bar tenders. Cheap prices. Karaoke. Minus: Gets way too packed sometimes. Odd crowd. It's my favorite early when you can belly up to the bar and have a guiness and watch TV...

Stuff Yer Face: Plus: Good consistent food. Best boli's in the area. Mario batale's first job. SICK beer selection. Nice waitresses. Outdoor patio. Minus: Can get expensive. Can get packed. Weird crowd depending on season.

Corner Tavern: Plus: Pool Tables, and the fact that you know there will be a seat open. Minus: No credit cards, usualy dead, sketchy draft beer, lousy soda tap. Strange crowd

Oh yeah.

Evelyns: Plus: Cool Tiki esq bar out back. Minus: Lousy jazz music, mixed up idendity, pricey.

I know I left out the off the beat bars like buda, ale n wich, and the other hamilton st ones. They all are fun, but small

I feel the bars below the train are more laid back and to a degree more fun. Once you are out of college, it's nice to talk at the bar!

To be continued.
